Gymnastics
Mary Rose and Nicholas have gymnastics class on Thursday nights. Mary Rose is in the 4 year old class by herself and Nicholas is in the two year old class, I had to fudge a little to get him but it's so much better than sitting in the lobby. Mary Rose is so cute she will catch me watching her across the gym and say, "hi mommy!" and completely lose her balance. Nicholas has really improved since the first class, he will tuck his head for a forward roll and hang on the bar and walk his feet up the wall, but the poor little guy just cannot jump. He loves the jumping song, he will stand when it's his turn and sing for the other kids, but his jumping is still this little galloping dance, it's so cute!

Music class
I realized over the holidays that by the time Mary Rose was 21 months, she had been in play class for several sessions and she had also been in a music class. I have noticed that Nicholas really likes music, he loves to play his little guitar and on the piano in the basement and I am amazed at how well he can sing. Now I had already signed him up for gymnastics on Thursday nights and I didn't feel like having to rush to classes more than once a week, so I decided I would do a music class myself for him on Monday nights when I'm usually not too tired. So the first week of January I carried the toy drums and guitars and my guitar up to our bedroom and tried to sneak Nicholas upstairs. Well, it quickly turned into a music class for both Nicholas and Mary Rose. The first session consisted of me playing Frosty the Snowman about five times and then Nicholas climbing up and down on the bed, but I continued on and this week went really well. We only played Frosty the Snowman three times and the kids loved the lollipop drums, the scarves, and the parachute I brought from school.

Snow, finally
I returned from my first scrap booking week- end away from the kids, and I'm so happy the snow lasted long enough for us to get outside and play in it. Nicholas was so cute when I got him up after his nap he said, "Mommy?" then he paused and looked at me and said emphatically, "home." It's good to be home. The kids loved playing in the snow, Mary Rose pretended she was a penguin and said, "waddle, waddle, waddle," of course Nicholas imitated her, saying"waddle, waddle, waddle!" I got a cute picture of him waddling. I also got a very funny picture of him carrying around this block of snow then trying to taste it and getting snow on his nose, so funny!" After a little while I suggested we go inside and see daddy and have some hot chocolate. Nicholas said,"Daddy! Chocolate!" like he was placing his order. I put some mini marshmallows in their cups of hot chocolate but I also tried to show Mary Rose how to build with toothpicks and mini marshmallows, but just like my students Mary Rose just poking them with the toothpicks, then immediately eating them.
Cute Nicholas quotes:
"chocolate all done."
"WOW, chicken"
The snow first arrived on Thursday and all day whenever he looked out the window, instead of saying snow he would say, " Frosty the snowman" then he would immediately start to sing it

Nicholas and the crackers
5/25/11
I took Nicholas to the grocery store after work. We got home around 6 and he was wandering around the kitchen while I was getting dinner together. He went into the pantry cabinet and got out a box of crackers. He came toddling toward me holding out the box of crackers and proclaimed, "yum," then put the box on the floor and tried to open it.
